This group is designed for teens who use a variety of communication styles, including AAC, verbal speech, gestures, and visual supports. We honor and support total communication, creating a space where all forms of expression are respected and encouraged. Teens in this group may: Benefit from additional time and support to express their thoughts and ideas Use multiple communication modalities throughout conversation Be building confidence initiating, maintaining, and repairing communication This group focuses on meaningful connection, self-expression, and helping teens communicate in ways that feel authentic and effective across real-life situations.
Please note: If your child primarily communicates using AAC, gestures, scripting, or benefits from extra processing time, modeling, and support across multiple communication modalities, we’d recommend specifically joining Total Communication Connect Club or Total Communication Teens. Our goal is to create groups where each child feels successful, supported, and genuinely comfortable communicating in their own way. Both groups are neurodiversity-affirming and connection-focused — they are simply designed to support different communication profiles and group dynamics.
